Valerie Hillings

Valerie Hillings is currently the Director & CEO at the North Carolina Museum of Art. Prior to their current position, they served as an Associate Curator and Manager of Curatorial Affairs for the Guggenheim Museum's Abu Dhabi Project from January 2013 to March 2014. From April 2004 to July 2009, Ms. Hillings was an Assistant Curator at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. Valerie then served as the Curator and Associate Director of Curatorial Affairs for the Abu Dhabi Project at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation from April 2014 to October 2018. From August 2009 to December 2012, Ms. Hillings was the Associate Curator for the Abu Dhabi Project at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. Ms. Hillings has also been an Adjunct Professor at New York University from January 1998 to December 2002 where they taught courses on "Art Since 1945" and "Contemporary Art in New York."

Valerie Hillings received their high school diploma from St. Agnes School. Valerie then went on to earn their Bachelor of Arts in Art Theirtory, Criticism and Conservation from Duke University. Valerie continued their education at New York University, where they earned their MA and PhD in Art Theirtory.
