Michael Delafield

Chief Legal Counsel at North Carolina School of Science & Mathematics

Michael Delafield joined the UNC System in 2012 after nine years of working in private practice representing boards of education across North Carolina. He splits his time between serving as Chief Legal Counsel for NCSSM and representing the Board of Governors as an Associate General Counsel at the UNC System Office. Michael received his BA in History from Princeton University and his JD from the University of Maine School of Law. He is the past Chair of the Education Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association, and a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys.
