Michael Stefanik

Michael Stefanik is an accomplished academic currently serving as an Associate Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at North Central College since August 2018, after previously holding the position of Assistant Professor in the same department. Prior to this role, Michael was a Post Doctoral Research Fellow at Rosalind Franklin University from June 2014 to July 2018, focusing on the regulation of protein translation in the nucleus accumbens in relation to cocaine self-administration. Michael earned a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the Medical University of South Carolina, where research involved developing optogenetic technologies for rat operant behavior models related to cocaine. Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Middlebury College.
