Mark Laurie

Mark Laurie has a diverse work experience in the field of energy and engineering. MARK has worked as a Senior Reservoir Engineer at North Oil Company Qatar and was responsible for well production optimization and drilling long horizontals. Prior to that, they held the same role at Woodside Energy where they were assigned to multiple projects, including the development of the Browse Gas Field and the operation of the Brunello gas and OKHA FPSO oil producing asset. MARK also has experience in ocean energy research as a Research Associate at The University of Edinburgh, where they worked on two European research programs focused on offshore renewables. Additionally, Mark holds a Master's degree in Renewable Energy Development from Heriot-Watt University and has published coursework on their website related to the evaluation of UKCS platforms conversion to hydrogen generation hubs. Earlier in their career, they worked at BG Group in various roles, including Production Optimisation Section Head, Senior Reservoir Engineer, Lead Reservoir Engineer, and Graduate Reservoir Engineer. MARK started their career at Schlumberger (WesternGeco) as a Geophysical Acquisition Observer and also worked as a Geologist at Geological Survey Western Australia and in geophysical acquisition at Horizon Exploration. Overall, Mark Laurie has extensive experience in reservoir engineering, ocean energy research, and the oil and gas industry.

Mark Laurie completed their Bachelor's degree in Exploration Geology from Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd between 1993 and 1996. Following that, they pursued a Masters (MSc) in Reservoir Engineering from Heriot-Watt University, which they completed from 2003 to 2004. Lastly, Mark Laurie obtained another Masters (MSc) from Heriot-Watt University in Renewable Energy Development, which they acquired between 2015 and 2017.
