William Ortiz Basto

William Ortiz Basto is a seasoned drilling professional with extensive experience in the oil and gas industry. Currently serving as a Drilling Supervisor at North Oil Company Qatar since June 2022, William's prior roles include Senior Drilling Engineer at Ecopetrol and Saudi Aramco, where responsibilities encompassed the design and construction of high-pressure gas wells. Notably, as a Senior Drilling Supervisor at TOTAL E&P Austral, William ensured safe and efficient operations for unconventional horizontal wells in the Vaca Muerta formation. Previous positions held include Drill Site Manager at Chevron and project roles at Gran Tierra Energy and Maurel et Prom, among others. William holds a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from Universidad Industrial de Santander, completed in 2002.
