Struan Mackie has a diverse work experience history. Struan is currently the Co-founder and Managing Director of North Point Distillery since February 2020. Prior to this, Struan served as the Chairman and Vice Chair of the Dounreay Stakeholder Group from 2019 to 2020. In 2017, they worked as a Councillor for the Thurso and Northwest Caithness Ward in The Highland Council. From 2019 to 2020, they served on the Board of Management for The North Highland College UHI. Before that, they worked at PwC, where they held various roles such as Scale Programmes Manager, Scale | Govtech programme lead, and Consultant. Additionally, Struan was a Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party from 2015 to 2017, and they contributed to the BBC as a media contributor from 2015 to 2017. Struan also worked as a Seasonal Attendant for Scrabster Harbour Trust in 2013. Finally, Struan owned and operated RFS.Trading, an online shop for sports equipment and clothing, from 2008 to 2012, and worked as a Junior Agent for DC Thomson Group - Aberdeen Journals from 2006 to 2011.

Struan Mackie began their education at Thurso High School, where they completed their SQA Advanced and Higher Qualifications from 2005 to 2011. Following their high school education, Struan went on to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in BA(Hons) Business with a focus on Finance and Enterprise at the University of Strathclyde. Struan graduated from the university in 2015, marking the completion of their formal education.
