Northbrook Park District
Meri Shea has a strong background in recreation management and administration, with experience in overseeing various programs and facilities at multiple park districts. Shea holds both a Masters Degree in Recreation Administration and an undergraduate degree in Parks and Recreation Administration from Illinois State University. Currently, Shea serves as the Athletics Manager, Activity Center Supervisor, and Recreation Manager at Northbrook Park District. Prior to this, Shea held positions as Program Manager at Lombard Park District and Recreation Supervisor at Tinley Park-Park District.
Northbrook Park District
The Park District holds title for its residents to 505.34 acres and leases 2.42 acres from the Village of Northbrook. The Park District maintains 24 parks, comprised of community parks, neighborhood parks, play lots and passive parks. Recreational facilities include: a fitness and recreation facility, a community center with activity and meeting rooms, two indoor ice rinks, 36 holes of golf, a practice range, two sled hills, five outdoor swimming pools, 19 tennis courts, 6 Pickleball courts, 32 baseball diamonds, soccer fields, playgrounds, picnic areas, trails, two fishing lakes, basketball courts, two volleyball courts, football fields, turf fields for soccer or lacrosse and an outdoor skate park. Distinctive facilities include Techny Prairie Activity Center, the Ed Rudolph Velodrome, Sportsman's Country Club, Anetsberger Golf Course, Techny Prairie Park and Fields with the Trail Through Time, the Leisure Center with the Northbrook Theatre, and the Northbrook Sports Center with two ice rinks. The Park District provides a full range of indoor and outdoor activities. Major recreation programs include ice skating, visual arts, music, performing arts, preschool, summer camps, child care before and after school, aquatics, athletics and seasonal special events.
