Northeast Center for Youth and Families
Karen L. Haberl, as the Human Resources Manager for NCYF, leads the HR department and oversees employee recruitment/hiring/retention, staff training, staff development, compensation and benefits administration, policy development and implementation, risk management and compliance, employment engagement, employee relations and labor relations.
After spending three decades working in the hospitality industry, initially in operations and then as an HR professional for both nation-wide corporations and companies operating on the eastern seaboard, Karen transitioned to working for the largest corporation in the retail pharmacy industry as an HR Business Partner.
In 2013, Ms. Haberl decided to enter the non-profit arena of human services to work in a challenging and very rewarding field of helping at-risk and traumatized youth receive the services they need to enable them to learn the skills to succeed in life as adults. Karen is committed to serving the needs of the agency’s directors through focused, in-person meetings and serves as a champion of NCYF’s trauma-informed model of care for all of its clients.
Karen is a member of the national Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) and is a certified Professional of Human Resources (PHR). She graduated from Suffolk University in Boston, MA, with a master’s degree in Human Resource Management and has a bachelor’s degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Travel Administration from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
