NORTHERN AREA MULTI SERVICE CENTER
It began in 1968 with just one company -- Sharpsburg Community Center, which was to become the Northern Area Multi-Service Center of Allegheny County (NAMS). Today, NAMS forms a Human Service Network providing a variety of needed programs and services to thousands of people each year. NAMS provides a range of community service programs throughout the Pittsburgh region in partnership with other area organizations, including state and local government. Together, these groups help senior citizens and others in our community build and maintain their independence and an improved quality of life. The Center is headquartered in Sharpsburg in what was the former Sharpsburg United Presbyterian Church. The Center operates a number of senior citizen centers scattered throughout the northern sector of Allegheny County. It operates paratransit, care management to the elderly, and to individuals and families under the age of 60. In addition.
