Carl DeRosa began their work experience as a Professor and Chair at Northern Arizona University in 1979. Carl was one of the founding faculty for the Physical Therapy Program and served as Chair for 17 years. During their tenure, the program was built into one of the top 20 in the country. In 2015, they became the CEO of Northern Arizona Orthopaedics, Ltd.

Carl DeRosa obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Zoology/Animal Biology from Ohio University in 1973. Carl then pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Anatomy and Neurobiology from the University of California, Davis, from 1975 to 1978. In 1993, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Anatomy from Union Institute & University. Later, in 2004, they obtained a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Northern Arizona University, specializing in Physical Therapy/Therapist. Additionally, they attended Mayo School of Physical Therapy from 1975 to 1977, although no degree information is available for this period.
