Barrie Bode is a highly experienced academic and researcher with over 30 years in the field of biological sciences, particularly in the study of amino acids and their transporters in cancer biology. Currently serving as a Professor of Biological Sciences and Director of Wastewater Surveillance Testing at Northern Illinois University since 2009, Barrie has also held significant roles such as Interim Associate Vice President for Research and was instrumental in coordinating COVID-19 testing during the pandemic. Prior positions include serving as Professor and Chair at Saint Louis University, and as an Associate Professor at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, where Barrie established the Surgical Oncology Research Laboratories. Barrie obtained a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Florida.
