Ellen Birrell

Ellen Birrell has extensive work experience in the healthcare industry, particularly in the field of homeless services. Ellen is currently serving as the Director of Population Health at Northern Nevada HOPES since 2022. Prior to this, they founded and worked as a consultant at HEAL Consulting from 2019. In 2021, they briefly served as the Homeless Services Coordinator at Washoe County, State of Nevada. From 2017 to 2019, they worked as the Whole Person Care Coordinator at the County of San Diego. Ellen also held multiple roles at Family Health Centers of San Diego, including Associate Director of Homeless Services from 2014 to 2017, Clinic Director from 2009 to 2014, and Executive Assistant to the CFO from 2007 to 2009.

Ellen Birrell obtained a Certificate in Project Management from the University of San Diego, completing their studies in 2020. Prior to that, they earned a Master's degree in Leadership of Health Care Organizations from UC San Diego in 2009. In 1996, they received their Bachelor's degree in Urban Studies and Planning from UC San Diego, with a focus on Homelessness and Health Care. In addition to their academic achievements, Ellen Birrell also obtained the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) certification from the Project Management Institute in December 2020.
