Jim Coxon has extensive work experience in the mining industry. Jim started their career as a Geotechnical Engineer at Goldfields Pty Ltd in 1997. Jim then worked at Gold Fields Ltd. as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer and later as an Underground Geotechnical Superintendent. In 2005, they joined LionOre Australia Pty Ltd as a Senior Planning Engineer. Jim subsequently moved to Barrick Gold Corporation and LionOre Australia Pty Ltd as a Senior Project Engineer and Senior Planning Engineer, respectively. In 2006, they joined Avoca Resources Limited as a Snr Mine Planning Eng / Tech Services Manager. From 2007 to 2010, they worked at Avoca Resources Limited as a Snr Mine Planning Eng / Tech Services Manager and then at Alacer Gold Corporation as a Project Manager. In 2011, they became a General Manager at Alacer Gold Corporation and held the position until 2013. Jim then worked at Metals X Limited as a General Manager for a year before joining Northern Star Resources Limited. At Northern Star Resources Limited, they served as the General Manager - Kalgoorlie Operations, General Manager, and General Manager Pogo Operations. Currently, they are the Vice President, Operations - North America at Northern Star Resources Limited.
Jim Coxon completed their education in the field of geology and engineering. From 1992 to 1995, they attended Camborne School of Mines, where they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Industrial Geology. Following this, from 1998 to 2000, they enrolled in the West Australian School of Mines, pursuing a Masters in Mining Geomechanics, with coursework finished and a thesis pending completion. Jim Coxon enhanced their qualifications by obtaining a certification in Adult Mental Health First Aid USA from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing in April 2022.
