Jason Johnson

Jason Johnson has extensive experience in the legal field, with a career spanning over 20 years. Jason started their career as a Staff Counsel at CNA Insurance, where they focused on insurance defense litigation. Jason then joined McClelland & Anderson LLP as an Associate Attorney before becoming a Partner at Willingham & Cote', P.C. During their time at Willingham & Cote', P.C., Jason Johnson specialized in commercial and real estate litigation, construction law, and franchise law, among others.

Following their tenure at Willingham & Cote', P.C., Jason Johnson served as Senior Corporate Counsel at Capitol Bancorp Limited. In this role, they managed national litigation matters and provided legal support for a portfolio of commercial and residential REO properties. Jason Johnson then transitioned to Fannie Mae, where they took on the roles of Director of Default Management and Director of Foreclosure Prevention and Outreach, overseeing foreclosure and bankruptcy processes and leading a pre-foreclosure mediation program.

Jason Johnson later served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Michigan, representing State agency clients in commercial litigation matters. Jason then joined MB Financial Bank as Senior Vice President - Servicing Counsel, providing legal counsel for the bank's mortgage servicing division and handling compliance, foreclosure, and bankruptcy issues.

Prior to their current role, Jason Johnson worked as Managing Director - Legal at Homepoint, where they served as lead counsel for the company's mortgage servicing operations and third-party vendor relations, ensuring compliance with federal and state consumer finance laws. Jason currently holds the position of Vice President and General Counsel at Northpointe Bank.

Through their various roles, Jason Johnson has acquired a wide range of legal skills, including mortgage origination and servicing regulations, compliance, litigation, bankruptcy, and vendor management.

Jason Johnson attended Kalamazoo College, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with Magna Cum Laude honors. Following this, they pursued a Juris Doctor (JD) degree in Law at the University of Detroit Mercy.
