Phuong Monahan has a solid career in the banking industry, specializing in portfolio management. Phuong started their career at UPS Capital® in 1998 as a Portfolio Manager and worked there until 2005. Phuong then joined First Hope Bank in 2010 as a Sr. Commercial Credit Analyst and stayed until 2017. From 2017 to 2023, Phuong worked at ESSA Bank & Trust as a Portfolio Manager. Currently, they are serving as the Vice President and Senior Commercial Portfolio Manager at Northwest Community Bank starting in 2023.

Different from a commercial bank with stockholders, community leaders founded Winsted Savings Bank in 1860. In 1875, local business leaders founded Mechanics Savings Bank of Winsted (later Northwest Bank for Savings).
