Daniela Ladner

Daniela Ladner, MD, MPH, FACS, FAST has a diverse and extensive work experience in the medical field. Daniela is currently serving as the John Benjamin Murphy Professor of Surgery, Tenured Professor of Surgery, Vice Chair of Research & Innovation, and Professor of Surgery at Northwestern University - The Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Ladner has been associated with Northwestern University since 2008, initially serving as an Assistant Professor of Surgery and later ascending to the positions of Associate Professor and then Professor.

In addition to their roles at Northwestern University, Dr. Ladner has made significant contributions to research and program management at various institutions. Daniela served as the Principal Investigator for multiple research projects at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), including studies on liver cirrhosis and medication adherence. Dr. Ladner has also held leadership positions as a Program Director and Principal Investigator for the Northwestern Summer Research Program for Medical Students and the Transplant Surgeon Scientist Program, respectively.

Furthermore, Dr. Ladner has been involved in research on liver cirrhosis and patient outcomes at the National Institute on Aging. Daniela'sresearch focuses on modeling cirrhosis progression in the elderly and predicting the risk of hospitalization and death. Daniela also analyzes sub-groups based on race and socioeconomic factors to improve outcomes for vulnerable patients.

Prior to their current positions, Dr. Ladner held multiple roles spanning from 1997 to 2022, including Transplant Surgery Fellow and General Surgery Residency at Stanford University Medical Center, Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Yale University School of Medicine, and residency in Surgery and OB/Gyn in Switzerland.

Daniela Ladner, MD, MPH, FACS, FAST received their medical degree (MD) in Medicine from the University of Zurich in 1996. Daniela later pursued a Master's degree in Public Health (MPH) with a focus on Epidemiology from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, completing it in 2008. Dr. Ladner is a board-certified surgeon and has obtained certification from the American College of Surgeons.
