Dr Paul R. Smith

Dr. Paul R. Smith serves as the Course Leader for the BA (Hons) Filmmaking program at Nottingham Trent University since September 2021. With extensive experience in the field of media education, Dr. Smith has held roles such as Team Leader and External Examiner for Higher National Creative Media Production with Edexcel & Pearson UK from June 2005 to July 2024. Previous positions include Deputy Programme Leader for BSc Media Production at De Montfort University (October 2018 - September 2021), and Lecturer in Digital Film Technology at Brooksby Melton College Leicester UK (November 2012 - October 2018). Dr. Smith has also taught film and television production at both Burton and South Derbyshire College (November 2007 - November 2012) and Hereward College (January 2000 - November 2007). Dr. Smith holds a Doctor of Education (EdD) in Media Production Education and has a PGCE from the University of Derby, as well as a Master of Arts in Media Culture and Communication from the University of London.
