Nik Morton

Nik Morton is a Professor of Metabolic Resilience and currently serves as Director at Nottingham Trent University since March 2023. Since November 2019, Nik Morton has been the Chair of the Energy and Metabolism Panel for the Biochemical Society. Prior to this, from September 2003 to October 2023, Nik Morton was the Director of the Post Graduate Centre for Cardiovascular Science and a Professor of Molecular Metabolism at the University of Edinburgh, focusing on the identification and validation of therapeutic targets for obesity and cardiometabolic diseases. Additional roles include Wellcome Trust Investigator, Reader, RCUK Fellow, and various fellowships centered on obesity and diabetes research. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Glasgow and a DPhil in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Clore Laboratory at the University of Buckingham.
