Sam Smith

Sam Smith has significant experience in public service and local governance, currently serving as the Cabinet Member for Education and SEND at Nottinghamshire County Council since December 2023, after being elected as a Conservative County Councillor for Newark East in May 2021. Smith has held various roles, including Chairman of the Children and Families Scrutiny Select Committee and Vice Chairman of the Children & Young Peoples Committee, focusing on key issues such as pupil place planning and special educational needs. Additionally, Smith serves as the Parliamentary Constituency Manager for Gedling MP Tom Randall and as a Councillor for Gedling Borough Council since May 2019, where leadership abilities were demonstrated as Chief Whip of the Conservative Group. Prior roles include Chairmanship of the Nottinghamshire Conservative Party and extensive experience in customer service management at HomeServe. Educational qualifications include a Business Level 3 Diploma from Nottingham College.
