Scott McKenna has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Scott most recently served as the Chief Information Officer at Nova Scotia Health Authority from 2022 onwards. Prior to this, they held the same position at Health Canada | Santé Canada, where they led and directed the delivery of various information management and technology services. Scott also held roles such as Director General for Business Renewal and Enterprise Architecture, Director General for Planning and Operations, Director for Program Coordination and Management, and Director for Business Analysis and Innovation at Health Canada. Before their tenure at Health Canada, they worked as a Regional Director General, Director of Enterprise Architecture, Regional Director of IM/IT, Regional Manager of IT, and Regional Informatics Coordinator at different organizations. Scott McKenna's early work experience includes roles in informatics support and database systems development.

Scott McKenna completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Saint Mary's University between 2006 and 2008. Scott also earned a Diploma in Applied Computer Technology from Atlantic Computer Institute from 1989 to 1990. Additionally, they obtained a Certificate in Digital Transformation from the University of California, Berkeley, which was completed in 2019.
