Muruga Vadivale has a diverse range of work experiences spanning several companies and roles. Muruga started their career as a Medical Officer and Acting Hospital Administrator at the Ministry of Health Malaysia, where they managed daily operations and staff. Muruga then became a District Health Officer, overseeing various health services and managing a large team.
Vadivale later joined Servier as a Clinical Research Manager and Medical Head, where they established and led clinical research units in multiple countries. Muruga was involved in all aspects of clinical trials and contributed to the development of guidelines for good clinical practice.
Muruga then worked at various positions in Sanofi, including Head of Medical Affairs for ASEAN countries and Senior Director of Dengue Medical Affairs for the Asia-Pacific region. In these roles, they managed large teams and was responsible for budget management, strategic planning, and talent development. Muruga also supported the registration and launch of a dengue vaccine and oversaw medical operations in India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.
Vadivale also had experience at MS Pharma and Medical Affairs Sdn. Bhd. as a Founder and Director, focusing on medical affairs consulting. Additionally, they worked at Bristol Myers Squibb and Celgene as a Country Medical Lead in Taiwan and South Korea, respectively. In these positions, they managed teams and led strategic initiatives in the fields of hematology, oncology, and immunology.
Most recently, Vadivale joined Novavax as the Vice President and Head of Medical Affairs for the APAC region. Previously, they served as the Senior Director and Head of Medical Affairs for APAC. Overall, Vadivale has demonstrated expertise in medical affairs, leadership, strategic planning, change management, and organizational direction throughout their career.
Muruga Vadivale obtained an M.Sc in Occupational Medicine from the National University of Singapore in the year 1990. Prior to that, from 1978 to 1982, they pursued a degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Mysore. In addition to their formal education, Muruga Vadivale has obtained several certifications, including "Conflicts of Interest" and "GCP for Clinical Trials with Investigational Drugs and Biologics (ICH Focus)" from the CITI Program in July 2022. They have also obtained certifications in various leadership and healthcare-related courses from LinkedIn in the years 2017 and 2019.
