SVP and Chief Technology Officer at Novelis

Philippe Meyer is Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Novelis Inc. In this role, he is responsible for leading the company’s product innovation strategy and research and development (R&D) across all regions and markets. He also oversees Novelis’ global network of research and technology centers throughout Europe, Asia and North America.

Philippe joined Novelis with the company’s acquisition of Aleris. During his seven years with Aleris, he was responsible for R&D, Process-Product-Technology, Quality, Laboratories and Intellectual Property as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer.

Prior to joining Aleris, Philippe held R&D, Operation and Technology roles at Pechiney and Montupet. Throughout his nearly 40-year career, he has been involved in the aluminum industry, serving the automotive and aerospace markets.

As a member of European Aluminium, Philippe co-founded the association’s Innovation Hub, which promotes R&D through activities such as networking, workshops and project funding. Additionally, the Innovation Hub has become a voice of the aluminum industry and is used to help the European Commission draft its vision for the future.

Among Philippe’s many career achievements, he is also the sole inventor or co-inventor of 48 patent families.
