Thomas Alslev Christensen is the SVP of Impact at Novo Nordisk Foundation. Thomas has previous experience working as the Head of Department for Innovation Policy and Department for STI Analysis at Danish Agency for Science Technology and Innovation, as well as the Head of Department and Vicedirector General at Nordic Council of Ministers. Christensen is responsible for cluster and innovation policy in Denmark, and has been the programme owner for multiple innovation programmes in Denmark, including: Danish Incubator Progeamme, Innovation Consortia Programme, GTS-System, Innovation Networks Denmark, Industrial PhD Programme, Innovation Vouchers Programme, Knowledge Pilot (innovation assistent) Programme, Proof of Concept Programme, collaboration between business and research, bibliometric indicators (BFI system in Denmark) and commercial exploitation. Furthermore, they are a chief analyst and STI evaluation and impact assessment expert.

Thomas Alslev Christensen studied economics at Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen, where they obtained their Cand polit degree. Thomas then pursued their studies at the European University Institute, where they were a PhD student in the field of international monetary economics and international finance. In 2000, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in International Economics and Finance from Copenhagen Business School.
