Junjiang (JJ) then pursued a Master's degree in Plant Physiology from the Shanghai Institute of Plant Physiology, Chinese Academy of Science, from 1995 to 1998. After that, Shen earned another Master's degree in Plant molecular biology from the University of California-Riverside from 1999 to 2001.
