Director Sensor Development at Noze

Jayan Ozhikandathil has extensive work experience in the fields of sensor development, product development, research, and teaching.

Jayan started their career in 2004 as a Project Trainee at Laboratory for Electro-Optics Systems (LEOS)-ISRO. After that, they worked as a Project Associate at Indian Institute of Science and as a Lecturer at Vimal Jyothi Engineering College.

In 2008, Jayan joined Concordia University as a Research Assistant, where they focused on the design, integration, and characterization of optical detection modules and microfluidic circuits for lab-on-a-chip devices. Jayan also served as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Research Associate, leading the Concordia Silicon Microfabrication (ConSIM) Lab and the ConSiM Lab respectively.

In 2013, they worked as a Research Scientist (Consultant, Part-time) at Mobecomm Inc., and later as a Research Scientist (Consultant, Part-time) at Lab 177 in 2014.

In 2015, Jayan joined Stratuscent (formerly known as Sensing Dynamics) as a Senior Product Developer. Jayan was responsible for developing an electronic nose platform using chemi-resistive array technology and machine learning algorithms. Jayan also served as the Director of Sensor Development at the same company in 2022.

Additionally, Jayan has served as an Affiliate Assistant Professor at Concordia University since 2019.

Throughout their career, Jayan Ozhikandathil has gained experience in sensor development, product development, research, and teaching, making him a versatile professional in the field.

Jayan Ozhikandathil has a diverse educational background in engineering. Jayan began their education at Govt. Polytechnic Kasargod, where they obtained a Diploma in Electronics Engineering from 1994 to 1997. Jayan then pursued a degree from the Institution of Engineers (India), earning an AMIE in Electronics and Communication Engineering from 1999 to 2002.

Seeking further specialization in their field, Jayan Ozhikandathil joined Cochin University of Science and Technology in 2003. There, they completed a Master's degree in Optoelectronics and Laser Technology, focusing on MEMS based magnetic sensors. This academic journey lasted from 2003 to 2005.

Continuing their pursuit of knowledge, Jayan Ozhikandathil enrolled at Concordia University in 2008. Over a span of four years, they successfully completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in miniaturized bio/chemical sensors. Jayan'stime at Concordia University concluded in 2012.

Throughout their education, Jayan Ozhikandathil has consistently shown a passion for engineering, particularly in the fields of electronics, optics, and mechanical engineering.
