Chris Harris has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering and bioinformatics. Chris is currently working at Nomic Bio as a Lead Software Engineer since January 2022. Prior to that, they worked at T. Rowe Price as a Senior Software Engineer from July 2020 to February 2022. Chris also served as a Senior Software Engineer at Symbiont from September 2019 to July 2020, and at Adaptive Management from January 2018 to September 2019.
Before transitioning to software engineering, Chris worked as a Data Engineering Manager at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center from July 2015 to January 2019. In this role, they developed a new portable analysis pipeline, set up infrastructure to support the analysis of 50,000 samples per year, and implemented metadata and data storage techniques for accessibility and usability.
Chris's previous experience includes working as a Senior Bioinformatics QA Engineer at QIAGEN from January 2014 to July 2016, where they performed bioinformatics validation and designed and validated bioinformatics pipelines. Chris also worked as a Bioinformatics Engineer at Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences from January 2013 to January 2014, where they developed pipelines for single-cell bacterial analysis and provided computational support for genomics research.
Their earliest roles include working as a Senior Programmer Analyst at Washington University in St. Louis from January 2009 to December 2012, where they were involved in projects of varying scale and contributed to the development of a somatic mutation calling algorithm called Somatic Sniper. Chris also served as a Programmer Analyst at the same institution from January 2008 to January 2009, where they designed next-generation sequencing pipelines and utilized decision trees and clustering for bioinformatics analysis.
Chris Harris attended the University of Miami from 2002 to 2005. During this time, they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Film.
