Mike McDonald

Mike McDonald is an experienced energy trading professional currently serving as the Director of Power Trading for ERCOT at NRG Energy since April 2014. McDonald advanced from Senior Trader in PJM to Senior Trader in ERCOT during tenure at NRG Energy. Prior to this, McDonald was the Director of Asset Management at Edison Mission Marketing & Trading, overseeing a team managing the optimization of over 8,000 MW of various energy assets across multiple markets. McDonald also held positions as Real Time Trading Manager at Strategic Energy and Real Time Trader at Constellation, gaining extensive experience in trading physical power across various real-time markets. McDonald holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, earned between 1998 and 2002.
