Suraj Musuvathy has a diverse range of work experience spanning multiple industries. Currently, they serve as a Senior Engineering Manager for Geometry at nTopology since January 2020. Prior to this, Suraj worked at Siemens from October 2011 to December 2019, where they held the position of Senior Key Expert Scientist. During their tenure at Siemens, Suraj achieved notable recognition as the Siemens Inventor of the Year in 2018 and received a research grant of $4.8 million from DARPA Transformative Design Program.
Before joining Siemens, Suraj worked as a Research Assistant at the Geometric Design and Computation research group from May 2004 to September 2011. Their research focused on areas related to geometric modeling with splines, mechanical CAD, and virtual environments for CAD. Suraj was also a Best Paper Award Finalist at SIAM/ACM GDSPM 2011.
Suraj gained valuable experience as a Research Intern at Siemens Corporate Research from May 2010 to August 2010. During this time, they invented geometric modeling technology for designing patient-specific medical implants and published conference papers and disclosures of their inventions.
Earlier in their career, Suraj served as a Software Engineer Intern at Delcam USA from 2007 to 2010 and as a Software Development Intern at Autodesk, Inc. in 2006. Suraj began their professional journey as an Intern at i2 Technologies India Pvt. Ltd. in 2003, followed by a Research Internship at the Virtual Reality Lab, Centre for AI & Robotics in Bangalore, India in 2002. In 2001, Suraj interned at the Ultrasonic Imaging Lab, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in Mumbai, India.

Suraj Musuvathy has an extensive education history in the field of Computer Science. Suraj completed their Bachelor's degree with Honours in Computer Science at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani from 1999 to 2003. Following that, they pursued their Master's degree in Computer Science at the University of Utah from 2003 to 2005. Suraj further expanded their knowledge in the field by completing a PhD in Computer Science at the University of Utah from 2006 to 2011.
In addition to their academic achievements, Suraj Musuvathy has also obtained a certification as a Scrum Master Certified (SMC) from Scrum Inc. in November 2021.
