Guilhem de Valicourt

VP of Engineering at Nubis Communications

Guilhem de Valicourt has a long and varied work experience. In 2007, they were a Research Associate (Internship) at the University of Essex, where they worked on the design of Dilute Nitride Vertical-Cavity Gate for All-optical Logic at 1.3um. Guilhem also served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Essex in the same year. In 2008, they were a Research Engineer at III-V Lab, where they designed, processed, and implemented reflective semiconductor optical amplifiers (RSOA) and directly modulated DFB lasers (DML) devices for microwave photonic systems and next-generation optical access networks. Guilhem was also an Assistant Professor at Télécom ParisTech in the same year. Additionally, they were a Research Associate (Internship) at QinetiQ, where they studied Mid-Infrared InGaSb/InAlGaSb Quantum Well Laser Diodes. In 2011, they were a Research Engineer at Alcatel-Lucent, Bell Laboratories, where they worked on the design and system implementation of novel optical node structures (packet optical add/drop multiplexer). Guilhem also studied next generation of devices for metropolitan and access network (integration based on InP/Si platform). In 2014, they were a Member of Technical Staff at Bell Laboratories. From 2017 to 2020, they were a Principal - Integrated Photonic Engineer at IPG Photonics. In 2020, they became a Co-founder and Director of Photonic Integration at Nubis Communications. Guilhem has also been a Technical Program Committee and reviewer for IEEE and OSA conferences/journals/reviews since 2010. Currently, they are a Board Member at the Marconi Society, where they represent the Society in various general areas and votes together with fellow board directors, including Dr. Vint Cerf ("Father of the Internet"), Dr. John Cioffi ("Father of DSL"), and Dr.

Guilhem de Valicourt completed their EURUJI at Universitat Jaume I from 2003 to 2005. Guilhem then went on to receive an Engineer degree in Physics from the Institut national des Sciences appliquées de Toulouse from 2005 to 2008. During this time, they also earned a Master degree in Photonics Devices, Systems and Networks from the University of Essex in 2007 to 2008. In 2010, they attended the École des Ponts Business School and completed a Doctoral Program in Management, Entrepreneurship, and Strategy. Guilhem also attended ESCP Business School in 2010 to 2011 to take part in an Entrepreneurial Boot Camp - Defi entreprendre. Finally, they received their PhD in Communication & Electronics from Télécom Paris in 2008 to 2011.
