Rex D. Geveden is president and chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors of BWX Technologies, Inc. (BWXT), a $2 billion nuclear industrial conglomerate headquartered in Lynchburg, Virginia. As CEO, Mr. Geveden directs all business operations and leads strategic planning, capital allocation, and leadership succession planning and implementation.
BWXT supplies nuclear components and fuel to the U.S. government; provides technical and management services to the U.S. government through the operation of complex facilities and environmental remediation activities; manufactures medical radioisotopes; and supplies precision manufactured components, services, and fuel for the commercial nuclear power industry. With about 7,000 employees, BWXT has 12 major operating sites in the U.S. and Canada comprising over four million square feet of manufacturing space. In addition, BWXT joint ventures provide management and operations at a dozen U.S. Department of Energy and two NASA facilities.
Mr. Geveden joined BWXT in 2015 as chief operating officer (COO), responsible for all operating business units. Previously, he was executive vice president at Teledyne Technologies, leading two of the four Teledyne operating segments.
He spent 17 years at NASA, including service as the agency’s COO responsible for a $16 billion portfolio of work that encompassed the agency’s technical operations of science, aeronautics, space operations and exploration as well as overseeing NASA’s 10 field centers.
Mr. Geveden serves on the board of directors for both the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and TTM Technologies, Inc., a global printed circuit board manufacturer. He holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in physics from Murray State University.
