Niraj Bhargava P.Eng, MBA, ICD.D has a diverse and extensive work experience in various leadership roles. Starting in 1999, they founded QCED Inc. and served as the Chief Executive Officer and Founder until 2004. From 2004 to 2006, Niraj Bhargava was the Dean of the School of Business at Royal Roads University. Niraj then became the Chief Executive Officer of Energate Inc., a smart grid demand response solutions company, from 2004 to 2013, where they raised significant funds and led the company to receive several awards.
In 2013, Niraj Bhargava became the Founder and CEO of NuEnergy.ai, a leading company in AI governance. Additionally, they established The New Energy Group, which focuses on developing principled AI and deep learning solutions. Concurrently, from 2013, Niraj Bhargava held the role of Advisory Board Member and Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Carleton University's Sprott School of Business, where they supported various entrepreneurial activities and served as the Executive Director of the Carleton Sustainable Energy Research Centre.
In 2016, they became the CEO of Fluent.ai, a speech recognition startup that utilizes machine learning algorithms. Simultaneously, they became a Board Trustee and Chair of Innovation at the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group. In 2020, they served as the National Academic Director - Board Oversight of AI at the Institute of Corporate Directors until 2021.
Currently, Niraj Bhargava holds the role of Executive Committee Member for the Ottawa Chapter at the Institute of Corporate Directors, where they contribute to the education, advocacy, and thought leadership for Canadian directors and boards. Niraj also serves as a Strategic Advisor at CANImmunize, an organization focused on digital immunization records.
Niraj Bhargava P.Eng, MBA, ICD.D has an extensive education history. Niraj obtained their Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Systems Design Engineering Honours Co-op Degree from the University of Waterloo, where they studied from 1981 to 1986. Niraj then pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management, International Business at the Ivey Business School at Western University, graduating from 1989 to 1991. In 1990, they also received an International Business Program Certificate from the Stockholm School of Economics. Later, in 2008 and 2009, they completed the Directors Education Program at the University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management.
