Christopher Hanes has held a variety of roles in the technology industry since 2008. Christopher began their career as a programmer and backup operator at the University of Michigan in 2008. In 2009, they interned at Visteon, where they worked on software prototypes. In 2010, they worked as a software engineer at PTC, where they contributed to Windchill, an enterprise Java application. Christopher then moved on to Thermo Fisher Scientific in 2014, where they worked on curing cancer through the application of genomic data. In the same year, they became a software engineer at Spectrum Health, where they used a service-oriented architecture with SOAP web services. In 2016, they became the CTO at Jetset ESL, where they were responsible for developing the website using Ruby on Rails. In 2017, they became a data engineer at DecisionIQ. In 2018, they became the Chief ML Engineer at Celéri Health. Finally, in 2021, they became a software engineer at Numerai.

Christopher Hanes received their Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Michigan between 2005 and 2010. Christopher then attended Wayne State University from 2013 to 2014 for Basic Medical Science. In 2016, Christopher earned a Master of Science in Computational Analytics from the Georgia Institute of Technology and followed that up with a Master's degree in Analytics from the same institute in 2017 to 2018.
