Maryam Sugaipova is a senior advisor at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) since November 2017. Previously, Maryam served as a programme assistant at the Human Rights House Foundation from January 2012 to September 2015 and held roles within Amnesty Blindern, including styremedlem and gruppeleder for Russland og Øst-Europa from 2012 to March 2015. Maryam also worked as a project assistant at the Norwegian Helsinki Committee in May 2011 and as an assistant executive officer at NOAS from September 2010 to May 2011, where responsibilities included assisting in asylum cases primarily involving asylum seekers from Chechnya and Russia. Maryam holds a master's degree in social economics from the University of Oslo, studied from 2009 to 2015, and completed education at Frederik II Videregående Skole in Fredrikstad from 2006 to 2009.
