Andy is a Consultant Physician and completed his medical training at Imperial College, London before joining the Royal Marines and serving for 16 years in a variety of roles both in the UK, Australia and various conflicts around the world. He specialized in Sports and Exercise Medicine and his final post before leaving the military was Director of the Centre for Human Performance and Sports Medicine. Andy has also a PhD that was awarded in the Biomechanical analysis of Athletic groin pain.
Andy has worked as team doctor to British Olympic Rowing, England Rugby, Melbourne Storm Rugby League, The New Zealand Black Ferns and GB and England Hockey and looked after professional footballers to Cirque de Soleil performers.
He is an associate editor of the British Journal of Sports Medicine, and also the author of the textbook Clinical Sports Anatomy and of the IOC Handbook of Sports Injuries.
In his last 10 years he has developed commercially Sports Medicine at the Sports Surgery Clinic to become Europe’s largest Centre, seeing over 40,000 patients a year. Publishing over 60 papers across injury, biomechanics and in machine learning of injury prevention.
