Justin Yurkanin is a Robotics Software Engineer with extensive experience in developing self-driving software. Currently employed at Nuro since January 2025, Justin previously worked at Torc Robotics from July 2022 to February 2025, where responsibilities included supporting the release of a new longitudinal planner, creating performance metrics visualizations, and researching new planning algorithms. Prior to this, Justin served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, focusing on neural networks for off-road vehicle modeling to enhance real-time path planning. Justin also gained early professional experience as a Research and Development Intern at Freudenberg Household Products. Justin holds both a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
