Matt Gatrell

Matt Gatrell is the Chief Operating Officer at Nutmeg, a role they have held since December 2018.

Prior to joining Nutmeg, Matt was the CTO for Neilson Financial Services from January 2016 to December 2018. Neilson is an InsurTech company providing direct to consumer insurance globally.

From January 2014 to December 2016, Matt was the CTO for MarketInvoice, one of Europe's largest peer-to-peer business finance lenders. Matt was responsible for pioneering online invoice trading.

Between 2002 and 2014, Matt worked as the R&D Director for BancTec, a global top 100 financial services technology provider.

Prior to that, Matt was a founding software engineer for ecom5, a startup that disrupted the electronic component brokerage industry. Matt also worked as a software engineer for PTP Sofware from 1998 to 2000.

Matt Gatrell has a Ph.D. in Software Engineering from Brunel University London and a Master's Degree in Advanced Information Systems from Birkbeck, University of London.

Matt Gatrell reports to Neil Alexander, CEO. They are on a team with James McManus - Chief Investment Officer, Neil Ridley - Operations Director, and Chris Littler - Finance Director.
