Vijay Kasarabada

Vijay Kasarabada joined the firm in 2022 as the Chief Information Officer of Nuveen (Head of Technology & Operations) and is accountable for advancing Nuveen’s technology and operations strategy, including the significant IT portfolio investments to accelerate Nuveen’s growth as a world-class global asset manager. Vijay will also drive the enterprise priorities for Nuveen as part of the wider client services and technology nextgen strategy, focusing on the transformation and integration of the Nuveen technology ecosystem in partnership with the firm's enterprise technology shared services.

Vijay brings 25 years of executive technology and operational leadership in the asset management, wealth management and investment banking industries. An engineer at heart and by trade, Vijay is well-versed in all aspects of technology, cloud, security, data and building of enterprise-wide large-scale engineering functions and teams, which will be valuable in enhancing Nuveen's priority initiatives. In addition he has led a wide scale operational transformation across firms such as BlackRock and Lazard Asset Management, with an integrated Tech & Ops strategy. Vijay has a proven track record in leading and transforming large organizations by the digitization and personalization of the client experience, and by building infrastructure and systems that facilitate investment decision-making, electronic execution and risk management in the front office.

Most recently Chief Technology Officer at Lazard Asset Management, Vijay led the implementation of State Street’s front-to-back investment servicing platform to drive efficiencies from the pre-trade processes all the way to existing middle-and back-office services across the firm. As Managing Director at BlackRock for over a decade, Vijay was the technology head of several functions within the front, middle and back office areas of the firm, with a specialization across Aladdin - BlackRock's technology platform. Vijay also held senior leadership technology roles at Merrill Lynch and has consulted for several Fortune 50 companies, including Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan.

Vijay holds an M.B.A. in Finance and Business Strategy from Rutgers Business School and a Bachelor’s of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from Rohilkhand University, India. In addition, he plays a leadership role across several technology industry forums.
