Bob Watts

Vice President, Indigenous Relations at NWMO

Bob Watts has a diverse work experience spanning different organizations and roles. Bob started their career in 2004 at the Assembly of First Nations (AFN), where they served as the Chief Executive Officer and Chief of Staff until 2009. In this role, they were responsible for managing the AFN and conducting negotiations with government and corporate entities.

In 2009, Bob Watts founded Watts and Associates, a company focused on assisting a First Nation company in the "green" building industry. Bob also developed and marketed anti-microbial and anti-bacterial products. Additionally, they worked as a trainer and practitioner in negotiation methods and meeting facilitation.

From 2009 onwards, they were an Adjunct Professor and Distinguished Fellow at Queen's University, teaching in the Masters of Public Administration Program and participating in conflict resolution and leadership programs.

In 2011, Bob Watts joined the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) as the Vice President of Indigenous Relations. In this role, they worked with a Council of Indigenous Elders to find solutions that facilitate the collaboration of Indigenous knowledge and western science in the NWMO's work on Canada's used nuclear fuel.

In 2018, Bob Watts briefly worked as the Chief of Staff at the Assembly of First Nations before moving on in 2019.
