Laurie Swami has extensive experience in the nuclear energy sector. In 2014, they joined Ontario Power Generation as a Senior Vice President, overseeing nuclear waste management and decommissioning projects. Laurie was responsible for managing the disposal of used fuel, low and intermediate level waste, and transportation of nuclear waste. Additionally, they led strategic initiatives such as the Low and Intermediate Level Waste DGR, the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station Safe Storage project, and the Post Pickering End of Commercial Operations strategy. In 2016, Laurie became President and CEO of the Nuclear Waste Management Organization.
Laurie Swami completed their Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSc (ENG)) from Queen's University, graduating in 1985. Laurie then pursued further education at the Schulich School of Business - York University, where they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree and a Master's of Business Administration (MBA) degree, both from an unspecified start year and end year.
