Mariël Brouwer

Mariël Brouwer has a diverse work experience in the field of membrane science and engineering. Mariël is currently working at NX Filtration as a Sr. Membrane Scientist, a role they started in February 2022. Prior to this, they worked at the same company as a Membrane Scientist from February 2021 to January 2022.

Before joining NX Filtration, Mariël worked as a PhD Candidate at Universiteit Twente in the Films in Fluids research group. Mariël'sresearch focused on developing pH stable polymeric nanofiltration membranes using new monomers and interfacial polymerization techniques. Mariël held this position from October 2016 to December 2020.

Mariël also has experience working as an Ambassador of Chemical Engineering and a Student Assistant at the University of Twente from March 2012 to March 2016, and from January 2015 to April 2015, respectively.

Additionally, Mariël completed an internship at CSIRO, where they worked on biomimetic mineralized metal organic frameworks (MOF) and the development of a recyclable ZIF-8/urease catalyst. This internship took place from August 2015 to December 2015.

Mariël also worked as a Student Recruiter at Ebbinge from May 2014 to March 2015, and as a Secretary at C.T.S.G. Alembic from October 2012 to October 2013.

Mariël Brouwer has a strong educational background in Chemical Engineering. Mariël completed their Master of Science (MSc) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Twente from 2014 to 2016. Prior to that, they obtained their Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Chemical Engineering from the same university, where they studied from 2010 to 2014.

In terms of their secondary education, Mariël attended Thomas a Kempis College from 2004 to 2010. There, they pursued a VWO degree with a focus on Natuur en Techniek (Nature and Technology) and Natuur en Gezondheid (Nature and Health).

In addition to their academic achievements, Mariël has also obtained a certification in Emergency Response (CPR / Evacuation / Fire Extinguishing) from the Nederlands Instituut voor Bedrijfshulpverlening (NIBHV) in February 2012.
