Karina Christiansen has extensive work experience in the field of public health and policy. Karina began their career in 2007 as a Research Assistant at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Karina then served as a Research Program Supervisor and Graduate Research Assistant before pursuing their PhD in Health Policy and Management, specializing in Health and Public Policy. Their research area focused on urban food policy and health disparities. After completing their PhD in 2016, Karina joined the NYC Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice in 2017 as a Senior Research Manager. In 2021, they transitioned into the role of Deputy Executive Director, Operations for the Mayor's Office to Prevent Gun Violence.
Karina Christiansen completed their education with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Loyola University Maryland in 2007. Karina then pursued a Master of Public Policy degree in Health Policy from The Johns Hopkins University, which they completed in 2011. Karina went on to earn a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Public Health, specializing in Health Policy, from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2016.
