Marcello Ziosi

Staff Scientist & Lab Manager at The New York Genome Center

Marcello Ziosi is an experienced scientist currently serving as a Staff Scientist and Lab Manager at the New York Genome Center since December 2018, where responsibilities include executing experiments and enhancing protocols in Next Generation Sequencing, CRISPR-based genome editing, and Single Cell Genomics, along with managing the wet lab. Prior to this role, Ziosi was an Associate Research Scientist at Columbia University, contributing to the investigation of novel mitochondrial diseases at the Houston Merrit Center, Quinzii lab, from February 2011 to September 2018. Additionally, Ziosi held a Postdoctoral Fellow position in the Laura Johnston lab, studying metabolic reprogramming in Myc-driven cell competition. Ziosi's early career included a Post Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Bologna, where pioneering research connected Myc to the Hippo pathway in cell competition. PhD in Biology with a focus on Biodiversity and Evolution, emphasizing Developmental Genetics, was earned at Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna.
