Melissa Marton

Director, Seq Ops At New York Genome Center at The New York Genome Center

Melissa Marton has extensive work experience in the genomics industry. Melissa started their career at the Broad Institute in 2004, where they held various managerial roles, including Manager of Samples Operations and Process Development and Manager of GAP Technical Development. At the Broad Institute, they also served as the Whole Genome Platform Manager, overseeing the chemistry side of the Affymetrix and Illumina whole genome high throughput array platforms. Melissa worked on the Genetic Analysis Platform at the Broad Institute until 2010.

In 2014, Melissa Marton joined the New York Genome Center as the Associate Laboratory Manager. Melissa subsequently served as the Sequencing Operations Process Development Manager before being promoted to Senior Manager in the Production Lab. Their most recent role at the New York Genome Center was Associate Director of the Production Lab. Ultimately, Marton was promoted to the position of Director of Seq Ops at the New York Genome Center in April 2023.

Melissa Marton obtained an A.L.M. degree in Extension Studies in Management and Operations from Harvard University, where they studied from an unknown start year to 2013. Prior to that, they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology & Psychology from Union College, attending from 2000 to 2004. Melissa Marton completed their secondary education at Kent School from 1996 to 2000, although the specifics of their degree or field of study are unknown.

In addition to their educational qualifications, Melissa Marton obtained a Project Management Essentials Certificate from the Management and Strategy Institute in July 2017.
