Mary Beth Claus

Mary Beth Claus is Group Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel for NewYork-Presbyterian. In this role, she is responsible for developing the legal and corporate strategies for the enterprise, and managing corporate, tax, real estate, labor and employment, corporate governance, antitrust and risk management issues. Additionally, she supervises internal audit and compliance, and serves as the chief legal advisor to senior leadership and the Board of Trustees. Ms. Claus joined NYP in 2019 with over 30 years of legal health care experience. Prior to NYP, she served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Indiana University Health and was Deputy Chief Legal Officer for Cleveland Clinic. Ms. Claus also gained more than 20 years of private law firm experience as a partner in the health care sections of two large firms. For two years, she served as Health and Human Services Executive Liaison for former Indiana Governor Evan Bayh. Ms. Claus received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Cincinnati and her law degree from Indiana University. She has been named among the top lawyers in the country in The Best Lawyers in America and Indiana Super Lawyers, including the distinction as one of Indiana’s top 25 female lawyers.
