Tobias (Toby) Cohen, M.D., Ph.D., currently serves as a Transfusion Medicine Fellow at the New York Blood Center, completing training that includes a fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Recognized as a 40 Under Forty Honoree by the American Society for Clinical Pathology in 2023, Tobias previously completed a residency in Pathology at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, where notable achievements included serving as Clinical Pathology Chief Resident and receiving multiple awards for distinguished service. Prior to residency, Tobias worked as a scientist at Weill Cornell Medicine, focusing on T cell-based therapies, and contributed to research at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai as an MD/PhD student, culminating in a dissertation on repurposing pharmaceuticals against Cytomegalovirus. Early career experiences include roles as an Associate Scientist at EpiVax, Inc. and an instructor at Kaplan Test Prep. Tobias holds an MD/PhD in Microbiology from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and a ScB in Biology and Classics from Brown University.
