Samim Ghamami

Samim Ghamami currently serves as Chief Economist at the New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF) since October 2025. Ghamami is also an Adjunct Professor of Finance and Senior Researcher at New York University and a Senior Advisor at SOFR Academy. Previous roles include Senior Economist at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission from December 2022 to October 2025, and Senior Researcher and Adjunct Professor of Economics at UC Berkeley until July 2025. Ghamami has held positions such as Senior Economist and Strategist at Millennium, Managing Director and Senior Economist at the Financial Services Forum, Adjunct Associate Professor of Economics at Columbia University, Senior Financial Economist and Senior Vice President at Goldman Sachs, and Associate Director and Senior Economist at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Ghamami earned a PhD in Finance and Operations Research from the University of Southern California and a Master's Degree in Operations Research from the University of Tehran.
