Clay Risen

Clay Risen is a seasoned journalist with extensive experience in editorial roles at The New York Times, where positions have included Reporter for Obituaries and Senior Politics Editor. Risen has also served as Deputy Editor for the Op-Ed section, overseeing daily production, and has solicited and edited articles throughout various levels of the Op-Ed Desk. In addition to tenure at The New York Times, Risen has worked as a freelance journalist, contributing to national publications and authoring three books. Previous roles include Managing Editor at Democracy: A Journal of Ideas, Assistant Editor at The New Republic, and Consulting Industry Editor at Vault.com. Risen holds a Master’s Degree in Social Science from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations and Affairs from Georgetown University.
