Lian Chang is a Principal Product Designer at The New York Times. Lian has over a decade of experience in the field of design, having worked as a Creative Director, Art Director, Senior Designer, and Project Architect.
Lian Chang began their career as a designer at the Renzo Piano Building Workshop in 1998. Lian then moved to R/GA in 2005, where they worked on the NIKEiD campaign as a senior designer. In 2007, they joined Columbia University GSAPP as an adjunct assistant professor of architecture, co-teaching a workshop on gaming and urbanism.
Chang left academia in 2007 to work as an art director at Renegade Marketing Group. Lian then joined Razorfish in 2008 as a creative director. During their five years at Razorfish, they worked with clients such as UNIQLO, The American Museum of Natural Theirtory, Billboard, The Hollywood Reporter, Travel Channel, The Economist, Mercedes-Benz USA, J.P. Morgan, Unilever, AXE, Lynx, Autoweek, Terra, XM Radio, and Volkswagen China.
In 2013, Chang left Razorfish to join The New York Times as a principal product designer.
Lian Chang attended Rice University where they studied architecture and art history for their BA. Lian then studied at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University for their MPS in interactive telecommunications (ITP).
They are on a team with Sonia Yamada - Vice President, CIG, Mark Silver - Vice President, Commerce, and Jeff Shah - Vice President, Customer Care. Lian Chang reports to David Rubin, EVP, Chief Marketing Officer.
