Cory Sweeney

Cory Sweeney is a seasoned coach and educator with extensive experience in rugby and water safety. Currently serving as the Black Ferns Sevens Head Coach and Co-Coach at New Zealand Rugby since January 2020, Cory previously held the position of Assistant Coach for the Black Ferns 7s from November 2016 to October 2021. Cory's career includes roles such as Regional Sevens Manager at NZ Rugby Union and Partnership and Sector Development Manager at Water Safety New Zealand, focusing on reducing the drowning toll in New Zealand. Earlier roles include Rugby Development Officer at North Harbour Rugby Union and Physical Education Teacher at Chartfield Delicate School. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Leisure Studies and a Bachelor of Teaching in Physical Education from The University of Waikato.
