John Kirkup

John Kirkup has over 20 years of work experience, starting with their role as a Financial Analyst at Vodafone New Zealand from 2000 to 2005. John then joined Wairarapa District Health Board as a Financial Analyst before becoming the Manager of Business Support Services from 2006 to 2012.

From 2012 onwards, John worked at New Zealand Rugby, starting as a Business Analyst for Franchises and Provincial Unions. John then became the Provincial Union Relationship Manager, where they were responsible for financial management and reporting. Afterward, John served as a Senior Financial Consultant, focusing on transformation projects, capital raise projects, and financial modeling.

John's roles at NZ Rugby also included being the Financial Controller, Acting Chief Financial Officer, and currently holds the position as Head of Group Strategy, Planning & Performance, where they are accountable for developing and reporting performance and ensuring strategic planning and risk mitigation.

John Kirkup completed their education at various institutions. John obtained their Associate Chartered Accountant degree from Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand in 2011. Prior to that, they became an Associate Member of The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants from 2001 to 2004, specializing in Management Accounting. Their Bachelor of Commerce degree with a focus on Tourism was earned at Lincoln University (NZ) from 1993 to 1996. Lastly, they attended St Patrick's College, Silverstream from 1988 to 1992, although details regarding degrees or fields of study for this period are not provided.
